January 25, 2011 - Side Slope Work at Landfill.
We will be doing some work at our landfill over the next few months to fill areas where settlement has occurred on our north and south slopes in the middle section of the landfill. The work is being done at the advice of our engineering consultants to allow for complete installation of the beanie cap as designed. The issue was identified through an engineering review conducted late last year. The work requires the temporary removal of some final cover. We will replace it when final design grades are achieved. We will implement a series of monitoring and management measures during the work to ensure that there are no odour or other impacts. The work required a permit from the Ministry, which we received on Friday, January 21. The details of the permit will be posted on the Environmental Bill of Rights (EBR) registry as well as our web site. We will post updates on our website on the progress of the work. As always, you can contact me directly at 613-831-3565 if you have any questions.
